The Toothless Puppy

About them: Karen and Ashley Almon are a mother-daughter duo from Seattle, Washington. Karen is a retired elementary school teacher, and Ashley is a writer, artist, actor, and musician. The Toothless Puppy was inspired by the Almons’ real-life canine companions, Campbell and Wilco.

My kids and I had the pleasure of receiving a copy of The Toothless Puppy for review. It was written by Karen Almon and Ashley Almon and illustrated by Agung Nurhidayat. This is an adorable children’s book that all three of my kids love and adore. I have read it so many times to them that they have phrases memorized and my kindergartner is now reading it to her siblings as well. It is about a dog named Campbell realizing she is missing a tooth. She is worried and confused as to why she has a missing tooth and why she is different. She wonders what everyone will think of her. She goes on an adventure and runs into a bunch of different animals that each are unique in their own way. Along the way she sees these differences and realizes that these differences are what makes everyone unique and are not a bad thing after all. This is an excellent story about embracing differences and excepting those who are different from others and to except ourselves for our differences as well. “You are who you are, and that’s the truth! You are who you are, and you don’t need proof.” is the phrase my kids remember and recite nonstop to all their friends and family. We love this book. It is a great story with a great lesson behind it. This would make a great Easter Basket gift or just a nice treat to your little one and I highly recommend it!

Disclosure: I received this product for free, in exchange for my honest review, which may differ from yours. Regardless, I only recommend products and services I used personally, and believe will be a good fit for consumers.
