[Review] Julep Maven Box

Julep Maven: Who push us to take a break from the bob and try something a little more daring with our hair. Who give us the courage to pull that little black dress out from the back of the closet. Who insist that we have a little fun with our fashion and refuse to let us settle for ordinary. These are the girlfriends who shout, “Go for the leopard print (or the fuchsia or the fake fur). You look fantastic and you only live once!” It’s about the shared discovery of things that make us look good and feel great. For us, nail color is at the intersection of beauty and fashion. It allows grown-up women to play, to step out of their comfort zone a little bit and experiment with color and style. It helps to unleash the inner artist in all of us. And because we’ve tested our trend-setting toxin-free colors and products in over 100,000 manicures and pedicures in our parlors, we have a good idea of what works and what our clients love.

March Box – First time sign up got a makeup bag

Now this Monthly Subscription box is all about nail polish and nail polish accessories. I wasn’t really to fond of this one really. You can sign up for your first box for a penny. But I used NAIL FILES code which gave it to me for 6 bucks.. So really don’t use someones reference code to get your set up. Use the penny code. So really you get 2 boxes in one month. But you have to pay for them both, unlike other sites where you only have to pay once. So my intro box as shown in first picture came with 2 polishes, nail file, and hand scrub. LOVE the hand scrub smells so good! I think I enjoy their accessories more then there tiny polish. Then I got my second box a week later, which Julep is located in Seattle, WA and I live in WA so I got mine way faster then others. That one shown above came with 2 polish, hand lotion, Makeup bag (First time sign up ONLY), Purple feet separators, and Chocolate which melted all over everything. The makeup bag is nice but its pretty small to hold alot of makeup. Hold like 7 Julep Polishes and a nail file only. Then later they came out with the offer to buy 2 more polish at 5 bucks each. Which came later in the mail. This company is like the only company that only has polish related stuff. I really wasn’t really liking it.. To cancel you have to call them, Polish lids do close with the creases, the bottles are tiny, they fall over easy while doing your nails, I don’t know I really don’t think 30 (includes shipping) bucks a month is worth it. Plus they use WAY to much material when they ship your boxes, what a waste and hurts the environment. They also have like 100 surprise BIG BOXES, where you can score a huge box full of polish, up to 300 bucks.. Alot of people get them and enjoy them, they are fun, but not worth the price. They also will charge your card if you dont cancel in the time frame, then you have to call them, and wait days for your card to get refunded and get over drawn.

  • Yeah, I am no fan of Julep for all of the reasons you stated. Just because Julep tells you their polish is worth $14 per tiny bottle doesn’t make it true. I find the quality of their polish to be mediocre at best and they sell it for the price of a high quality brand like Chanel or Dior.
