[Review] Concert Review: Yanni Live

Taken from website: “Yanni Voices” After a reflective time, Yanni experimented with another direction. Yanni explains, “I will always do instrumental music, but now I’m just trying to expand my horizons and open the doors to some incredible talent that can give voice and lyrics to my work.” The multi-Grammy nominated performer is talking about Yanni-Wake Entertainment, his newly formed venture with fellow Grammy and Oscar winning producer/songwriter, Ric Wake. This exciting enterprise will not only continue to create superb music, but it will also develop talented new artists, compose music for films and be involved in movie and television production.  Yanni Wake Entertainment has signed Nathan Pacheco, Chloe, Ender Thomas and Leslie Mills. His more recent tour, Yanni Voices: Live in Concert, in 2009 was a big success. Touring all over North America with sold out shows including Radio City Music Hall and full houses throughout Mexico.

I got the opportunity to review this concert of Yanni Live! I of course had no clue who he was, but my husband and all his buddies did. We did some research and listened to some of his work. Which kinda send mix signals on what he mainly does. So we got the sitter and drove to Seattle, which wow we got there and the roads, the Benaroya Hall garage was full, so we parked in another garage down the street. I hardly see Seattle’s night and wow there were SO MANY people seeing Yanni that night, that place was packed full. I have never been to the Benaroya Hall or even heard of it. Now that we drive down to Seattle I see it all the time hehe! If you have ever been inside the seats are so close to each other, I could of picked the guys nose lol. That Benaroya Hall is huge so many stories high wow, its so pretty inside. We got our tickets quick, didn’t need to show ID. Then the waiting in line to get in was quick. The greeters and seat showers were extremely nice. We sat down and within 10 minutes the show starts. He played a few songs, before he starting talking to the audience. He had few characteristics that he did during songs and one right after. Yanni kinda reminded me on Weird al Yankovic! When he did start talking he made some funny remarks and some kinda rudely ones. Alot of the audience kept saying I LOVE YOU Yanni, then he would say it back to everyone. Yanni played a song for a girlfriend he used to love but is gone out of his life. It was pretty. The lights effects what bugged my husband and I alot, kept beaming into our eyes when Yanni do the bam on his piano’s. Otherwise it was a good show! Very relaxing and peaceful. The best part of the show was watching 65 OLD MEN head bang to his music WOW is all I can say. Everyone was dressed up, alot of people taking pictures and videos. The Mary Simpson the Violinist she was my favorite part of the whole show. Right before we took off, she went all out and was so awesome, right at the end one her strings broke, AWESOME.  Mary Simpson was my favorite person of the band. The drummer and others were just as great! It was a great enjoyment to get away and escape from reality for a bit and listen to instrumental music. It was really fun, and I had a blast! His stuff is definitely not something I usually listen to, so was a great change for once!
