Peter Pauper Press Review

About Them: PETER PAUPER PRESS, founded in 1928, is one of America’s leading publishers of fine gift books, humor books, compact references, travel guides, unique journals, quality stationery, holiday cards, and innovative children’s activity books. We publish approximately 100 books and ancillary products per year. In 1928, after studying with famed book and type designer Frederic W. Goudy, printer William Edwin Rudge, and Melbert B. Cary, 22-year-old Peter Beilenson set up a small press in the basement of his father’s home in Larchmont, New York, and designed and printed about 200 copies of J. M. Synge’s With Petrarch. The entire print run was purchased by a New York bookseller, and the volume was lauded as one of the American Institute of Graphic Arts’ “50 Books of the Year.” This was the auspicious beginning of the Peter Pauper Press.

Spongebob book
Spongebob book

This is a book my kid has been wanting for quite sometime now. Every time we go to the party store he is always begging to get it. So once we finally got one, he spent an hour coloring all the black pages with the pencil. Underneath each black film is a kind of glittery film. So when you use the pencil it creates a glitter effect. It’s pretty fun and very addicting for sure. The only thing was when the black film is colored off, it gets everywhere, your car, hands, floor and it will smear all over the place. It’s a lot like that film used on lottery tickets you scratch off, but much thicker and harder to rid. Mind this is a very fun book and the opposite side of the page is a picture of some Spongebob characters that you draw on the black paper, so you can create some fun art work. You can also get creative and just draw or write whatever you like to. Comes with at least 20 pages so you get many hours of fun!

Now I love to draw it’s in my blood, and I even took college classes. It’s a lot of fun all my classes in school were art related as well as college. It’s a great way for me to escape and just go into some world and draw what my heart feels like. I have been wanting a set like this since HS and been dying to get one, much they are always out, doesn’t have everything I want, or just too much at the time. This one comes with every pencil with different lead amounts and shape, also comes with graphite, pencil sharpeners, and erasers. This is a very fun kit, and takes a long time to break them in and I made a giant tree with all sorts of added things and I barely broke through the middle. It’s totally a fun set for anyone who loves to draw and get creative.
