We have several aquatic pets. Some of these include frogs and newts. When I saw the Penn-Plax Turtle Topper Above Tank Basking Platform on Chewy.com I knew that it would be a perfect way for them to get out of the water when they want to. It would also allow me to fill my tank even fuller which is better for my filter system. When the Penn-Plax Turtle Topper Above Tank Basking Platform arrived it was much larger than I had anticipated. I knew it said 14 inches online but I guess I just thought it would be smaller. It is fairly large and even better than I expected size wise. Setting it up was pretty simple. I did have to do a bit of modifying it to get it to fit how I liked on my tank but it was sturdy and provided what I was looking for for my frogs and newts. Once it was sitting in my tank just right I had to fill the water to the top. The platform can not even be used if the tank is not filled but once it is, your water critter can come and go as they please from the water. It took my frogs and newts a couple days before they realized they could go up the little ramp and get completely out of the water but once they did they really seemed to enjoy having it! The platform on top is large and provides plenty of room for your aquatic critters to rest and move around without the water. The ramp is easy for them to climb up and I just love that the top is fully contained so they can not escape out that way. My newts are escape artists so this has been wonderful! My kids have really been enjoying watching them up on the top as well. It provides a safe resting area and it is a pretty neat addition to the top of the tank! If you have any turtles or any other water critters that like to get out of the water to bask or rest at any time then this Penn-Plax Turtle Topper Above Tank Basking Platform might be a good addition to your aquarium!
