Delonghi Pinguino PAC N120 Eco

51oaKMwcCkL._SL1000_About Delonghi Pinguino Portable AC Unit: Want supplemental cooling that won’t block your view? Do you live in an apartment building that doesn’t allow for window air conditioners? For any scenario, the De’Longhi Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner with 12,000 BTUs is the ideal solution. Don’t suffer in the heat, simply roll the Pinguino into any room and place it near a window and outlet. Plug it in, slide in the window bracket, attach the hose and turn it on. There are no tools required! Not only is it simple to set up, but you will also save money with plenty of energy-efficient features such as eco-friendly refrigerant gas and an adjustable thermostat. The convenient 24-hour programmable timer allows you to set it only for the time you need cooling. With most portable air conditioner units, you need to continuously empty excess condensation from a bucket. But with Pinguino’s “no drip” technology, the unit automatically recycles the condensation so you never have to empty a bucket again! Other highlights include 3 fan speeds, auto fan function and easy-to-use digital controls with LED display and remote. With quiet, worry-free operation, the Pinguino is perfect for your home office, bedroom, basement or anywhere cooling is needed.

This Portable AC unit is a lot lighter than the previous Delonghi one I posted about a while back. This one is a bit thinner, smaller, and light weight. It is a bit louder than the other one. The kick on AC part gets pretty loud and lasts for about 46 minutes, tell the room gets to the temperature we set it at. It will last for a few hours before the fan kicks on to blast the room with the stronger AC. It is like the other one very much, has the same draining part, with the cap, and then the rubber blocker to keep it from leaking. You do need two people to drain this beast. Someone to lift it, tilt it, and then other person to drain it. It holds about a couple of gallons worth, and it needs to be drained about every third month, which isn’t to bad. The controls are a lot different over the last one.

These controls are not like the previous one, way more advanced options, with a 12 hours timer option, Temperature for indoors and outdoors (thats NEW), you only have 3 mode options, tells you when it needs to be drained, with a digital screen for the temp for outside, inside, and AC room temp you want it on. It also comes with a remote, and can be used pretty far away, we never use the remote for it, we just push the buttons.

Whole Air Conditioner

The Air Conditioner hooks up in the back by snapping into the fan piece on unit, then the hose can be adjusted for width, or height windows, easily. Then snaps into the plastic long piece that sits in the window. That piece has these 2 rubber pieces which snap into the holes on both sides, so you can adjust it to your window size. They still haven’t fixed the problem with it making a gap between window slider, and the wall part, leaving a gap, which you have to tap up, because you don’t want that carbon in your home. We just tape it up and stays put all summer, plus we’re a little more OCD with the whole window gap, enough will let in heat. All in all the AC unit is awesome, does the job, makes any room (Room size up to 550 Square Feet) feel nice and cold throughout the day. Stays on all day and never shuts off, unless you do, or needs to be drained. Storing these away in the winter, isn’t easy as they are slim, but bulky, so you will need some good closest space. As a R410A air-conditioner, the Pinguino is now more air-ecological. It uses the latest generation refrigerant gas R410A, thus respecting the environment while ensuring your comfort. We bought ours at Costco for $369 originally costs $700. It keeps our Master Bedroom room very cold at night, making sleeping way better. We live in a 2 story house (2200 sf) so our house gets to 87 during 90 degree days. As WA State homes don’t come with central air systems, since its only hot 3 months a year. So this unit gets the job done, they last for over 4 years, and are always there when you need one. Since they are portable you can travel with them, when you’re traveling to place that will be hot. If you do need to lay it on its side, be sure to keep it off for 6 hours before using it. Between the two one in living room, and one in the bedroom, the house drops down to 77-80 degrees during the days instead of an almost 90 degree house.
