We bought this Delonghi PAC AN140HPEC Portable Room Air Conditioner & Dehumidifier last night. Took the boxing all apart in the car to fit it in, and than waited 6 hours to turn it on. because if you have to lay it flat or sideways on the way home it has to sit for 6 hours because it has this issue. So we hooked it all up and turned it on to the settings, Which has a few settings, sun, rain drop, and few others. The window mount part is pretty flimsy (thin plastic) but it does the job and keep the air out of the house and keep the AC in.. The pieces that you use to hook up to the window and the machine are super easy to hook up took a few minutes (we have windows the go up and down rather than side to side, so we have to use tape to seal it from the carbon). Just place long piece in window, buttons on the bottom and attach the tube to it and the machine. The machine turns on perfect and runs great all day long. Since its a dehumidifier as well, it collects the water from the air and holds it in the tank, usually at 2 months we have to unscrew plug and let the water pour out. Super easy to do and it will tell you with a triangle on the digital screen. Ours is hooked up in our family room and does a pretty good job keep the area colder, we can feel coolness in the kitchen and the den as well, so it spreads around. We live in WA State and they don’t have AC’s in homes, so in the summer it gets up to 100 and our house gets around 85-90 degrees without the machine. When the machine is on, and we set it the temp of 66, it will keep the house under 70 degrees no problem. We do have a two story so heat still sticks around, but the room its in and with the few extra stretches are nice and cold. I love the digital function a lot, has temperature change function for colder or warmer, and fan control for even colder house, and the different settings to choose, we do the sun or the rain drop one, the only ones you can control the fan on. This will also tell you how hot the house is in the room its in, and tells you what the temp it is from the AC. After it runs for an hour it kicks on the fan and makes the AC pump more, then calms down and keeps at its temp. Great for all year around or just when needed. Even great for cigar rooms. There is a smell like all new appliances have when it turns on, but goes away after sometime. You also get a smell from it when its off from running a while. The back end does get hot, but not to hot to burn you, does have a filter you can vacuum clean when its off. All in all I love it, and we have had it for 3 summers now, and for $500 bucks it does what it should.. The remote and the machine have a hard time communicating with each other on the fan part. The remote is so you can control the temp change from sitting but otherwise its pretty pointless since you have to get up for other settings. The machine is pretty heavy itself, and you can never lay it down, if you do you have to wait hours. I am the one always hooking it up and moving it, I just drag it to place. Though emptying the water you need help if you dont place it on a table, ours sits on the carpet.
Since we are now climbing on year three with it, works as great as when we bought it at Costco. We only have to empty the water like once or twice for like a 5 month period. People mention it leaks, but if you put the rubber plug in and screw the cap on tightly you will not have this issue, ours never leaks. We run this machine 7 days a week all day long, we turn it off when we leave unless we come home quick. Otherwise if you like a cold house in the hot days this machine is perfect for it, and has warranty for a few years.
