Shopping for tweens and teens for Christmas can be challenging. I have been on the lookout for a good gift for my little sister who is a tween and it has been challenging. I know she has been really into reading and does it in any free time she gets so I knew Child of Creation: Book One of Then Came a King by Robert Donohue was going to be the perfect gift for her this Christmas! After his parents were murdered in his village by marauders, a teenage boy named Lark, son of Roclin runs for his life. The marauders are out to kill him because he witnessed their atrocities and they want no witnesses. He joins a group of others who begin to teach him about the world he has been sheltered from. He learns that the mythical creatures like Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes,Sprites, Trolls and more are all very much real and alive! He must learn all about these and discovers his parents kept many things about his families past hidden from him. He has to learn who he is and what he is capable of as he sets off on an adventure to make those who destroyed his village and murdered his family and friends pay for the crimes they have committed. This book is fantastic! If you love mythical creatures and stories about them as much as I do then this book will be very enjoyable for you! This would be the perfect gift for teens and tweens this holiday season and I highly recommend it!
