This whole kit was a ton of fun to play with, and finding where to put the bulbs, who gets the one on the go, Sling TV, and the Net-gear router to complete the set.
The bulbs set is pretty cool, comes with three bulbs, the white box to plug into the outlet, accessories to hook it up to your outlet. Just find the software on your device app, go through the process which took me about an hour to get everything all set up. We put the bulbs in the bathroom, kids room, and the master bedroom. The bathroom, and the kids room bulbs are pretty much on all the time, and they haven’t even died yet. They fit well into any port that fits a bulb, and since they are hue, they can be used on high or low wattage in the ports. With the phone app you can change it to any color, make it a dimmer light, beat to the music. The best part is, if you left your house and forgot to turn lights off, you can use the app from your phone or tablet and turn your lights off, even from the other side of the world (yes we tested it, from North Carolina to WA state)
The hue on the go, is really neat, it does the same thing as the bulbs, expect this one can be taken anywhere, the kids use it as a night light, since it has a bright light on white, or the soft colored options. The on the go one, is pretty light weight, and made very durable, since dropping it on wood, and carpet, it didn’t even break. This comes with a cord you plug into the outlet and into the portable bulb. After its been fully charged, it can last 7 long, when turned off when not in use, then 3 and half days if left on all the time. My oldest son decided to dunk it into the bowl of water, and it still worked, after being taken out after a few seconds, though I don’t suggest getting it soaked since there is a hole for the charger in it.
The Netgear nighthawk costs about $300 bucks, and works well with any cable modem, ours is Comcast Business. Since we use a ton of upload and download speed for the online games, and game systems we need something that will give us fast speed, so we can run 3 cell phones, 2 TVs, Xbox One & Xbox 360. All of the computers, laptops, printer and so on. This router gives you amazing speed, and works very well with the Philips hue starter kit, and portable light. Very much well worth the price, and husband can run league of legends, and I can still have good speed for TV and laptop. This comes with geek squad for anyone who needs help installing it. Also comes with Sling TV for a year.

Of course you can buy them separate at a time. The HUE sets are very good quality, durable, easy to use, fun to play with, turn your lights on and off from outside the home.
