I absolutely love action movies. When I had the opportunity to receive and review 9 Pulse Pounding Films Featuring Samuel L. Jackson and several other well loved actors I was pretty excited. This box set includes Death of A Prophet, The River Niger, Deadly Drifter, South Bronx Heroes, The Mark of the Hawk, No Good Deed, Freedomland, In My Country and BAADASSSSS! Total, this box set has 9 films and spans over a running time of 12 hours and 12 minutes total. Death of a Prophet is part of a documentary and part dramatic depiction which focuses on the last 24 hours of Malcolm X’s life. Morgan X is played by Morgan Freeman and it shows interviews from Malcolm’s friends and family and has a feature running time of 60 minutes. The River Niger is R rated and has a feature running time of 105 minutes. It is about a man named Johnny and all his struggles. He is a house painter but must face daily challenges living in the ghetto and trying to support his family. He also has to deal with his wife and her cancer and all the crimes that come with living in such a poor area. The Deadly Drifter isn’t rated and has a feature run time of 83 minutes. This one is a comedy about a guy named Rex who is a mercenary road warrior. He takes on odd jobs as he wonders through life all communicated with him thru his bowls of soup. South Bronx Heroes is R rated and has a feature running time of 85 minutes. An ex con is released from prison and in hopes that he can start his life fresh. When two foster kids run away and break into his sisters place to get away from their foster dad who is using them for child pornography he and his sister come up with a way to keep the kids safe from the crimes being committed against them. This was an excellent movie and I loved it! The Mark of the Hawk is not rated and has a feature run time of 85 minutes. Obam returns to his homeland in Africa after living in London for some time. His brother leads the rebels opposed to the current government in which Obam is working for. He must deal with what his country and people need and want and the rebels. No Good Deed has a feature run time of 98 minutes and is rated R. This one takes place with an investigation of a missing person which later turns into a game of cat and mouse. A detective is captured and held hostage during a bank robbery and the whole film is filled with action. It is a great action adventure movie and I enjoyed it. Freedomland is one I actually already owned. It has a feature running time of 113 minutes and is rated R. This one is another action adventure and suspense film. A mom says her kid is abducted when her car is stolen. It goes into a huge investigation where things are discovered and brought up. It is an intense movie. In My Country is R rated and has a feature run time of 104 minutes. An American journalist has an affair with a beautiful African reporter. Thru this he is able to forgive and open his eyes to what is really important in life. BAADASSSSS! is R rated and has a feature run time of 108 minutes total. This one is about the struggle of a young black director during the 70s. This is a great collection of films and I highly recommend it!
