My dad is fascinated by anything and everything having to do with our history. He tells me time and time again how we can not have a future without understanding our past. When I had the opportunity to review The Vietnam War: A Film by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary series I knew it would be a perfect gift for him this Father’s Day! The Vietnam War is a 18 hour documentary series by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. This 18 hour documentary series spans out over a 10 disk set and has testimonies, stories and more about the Vietnam War. It includes all about Americans that fought in the war, Americans who opposed the war, civilians from North and South Vietnam and more! It includes videos, photographs, television broadcasts and even includes secret audio recordings from inside the Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon administrations. It is loaded with historical facts and iconical things from that time, including musical recordings from famous artists of that time. I am not a huge history or war person and haven’t ever really been interested in much of it but this Vietnam War documentary series was extremely fascinating! It really took me back and put me right into that era and made me understand so much of what I never even knew I was missing. I am going to be gone Father’s Day weekend so I gave it to my dad early and we watched it together. He really loved it and he loved that it featured so many testimonies that he had never before seen! This is a great documentary series and a great gift for dad this Father’s Day! My dad and I both enjoyed watching it together and I am sure your dad will love it too!
