I requested the back one for me, since they don’t offer a shoulder ice pack and they so need too. I was able to place this on my shoulder with wrapping the strap under my other arm. It really didn’t take long for it to freeze and lasted about 7 hours off and on. I recently had shoulder surgery on 4/2/14 for a tear in my shoulder and for impingement. I actually almost died and they had to use 3 heart medicines and a tube down my throat when they almost resorted to in my throat pretty scary after I found out, kinda wish I didn’t. I hadn’t had surgery since I was 1 so it was so hard to do this. I finally don’t have to wear my sling anymore and I walk around wearing this ice pack for most of my days. I have an ice machine but I am kinda nailed to the couch and with toddlers that is hard to do. This ice pack has saved my life more times I can count. I pop it in the freezer twice a day night-time and around 2. The beads are soft and it doesn’t make your skin feel ice-cold with or without a cover. For the most part it’s under my shirt in public and above at home. I am always on the move with a special needs child and need something to keep the inflammation down from a long day. Great product and is always ready when I need it. I use the ice more than the heat most the time.
