My kids and I had the pleasure of receiving Smithsonian Readers Levels 1 through 4 for review. These books are awesome for beginner readers! Each book includes 6 different titles, 6 quizzes and 36 fact cards. Level 1 is Early Adventures and includes Safari Animals, Animal Habitats, Insects, Vehicles, Outer Space and Reptiles. Level 2 is Seriously Amazing and includes Nighttime Animals, Sea Life, Baby Animals, Dinosaurs, Solar System, and the Human Body. Level 3 is World of Wonder and includes The Planets, Ancient Egypt, Rain Forest Animals, Sharks, Wild Weather and The United States. Level 4 is Endless Explorations and it includes World Wonders, Predators, Space Exploration, Natural Disasters, Ocean Habitats and Flight. My girls absolutely love these books! They are educational and easy for young readers to follow along. They are packed full of beautiful pictures that my kids go crazy over! They have simple sentence structure and repeated sentence patterns which help motivate and encourage your child to keep reading. Level 1 is for early readers. Level 2 is for Developing Readers. Level 3 is for Engaged Readers and Level 4 is for Fluent readers. Each book becomes more complex in sentence structure and includes more vocabulary as you go. These books are great and my kids love them. They are beautifully written and illustrated and the way they are designed to advance your child’s reading skills is awesome! My preschooler has picked up quickly with these books and my 3 year old is enjoying them too because of the pictures. She is even starting to learn basic words in Level 1. These are a great addition to any school or home library. We love them and I am sure your early reader will too!
