Wrigley introduced the Extra Dessert Delights line of gum in 2010. At launch three flavors were made available: Strawberry Shortcake, Mint Chocolate Chip and Key Lime Pie. The Extra gum line was introduced in 1984 and was one of the first to use high-intensity sweeteners.
Extra Dessert Delights Key Lime Pie gum sticks contain only 5 calories a piece, with the sweetness of the gum coming from a combination of Aspartame which flavors most diet sodas and Sucralose, also known as Splenda, which flavors Diet Rite sodas. The real pie is made from filling of key lime juice, egg yolks and sweetened condensed milk. With a delicious and authentic flavor, this gum offers a perfect diet treat to help fight off the temptations of the high-calorie dessert it mimics.
We received a sample pack of the gum from Wrigley. The packaging is very appealing, and the gum itself looked fairly typical although it was more green than the traditional yellow color of the pie itself. When it came to flavor, the taste was suprisingly complex. Reminiscent of the “three course dinner” gum from the original Willy Wonka, I found myself experiencing a slow transition of very pleasing and convincing flavors. While some other reviews fault the gum for losing its flavor too quickly, I feel that the intensity change was pretty typical of most gums with a majority fading after the first few seconds as the outer layer is consumed and your taste buds adjust. I continued chewing the gum for some time afterward without noticing any displeasure with the experience. If you like sweets and chewing gum, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Love the strawberry cheesecake..cant wait to try key lime.
I got the Key lime pie but gave it too my mom since I am not a gum chewer. My said it was very good. It tasted just Key Lime pie but with out tang. She really enjoyed it.
I got the Mint Chocolate Chip one and I thought it tasted like Mint chocolate chip and the flavor seems to last for a fairly long time. Maybe just the Key Lime didn’t last very long, since I would think that it’s flavor would be lighter.
