[Review] Danny the Dragon DVD

Tina Turbin wrote her first children’s story at age 16. She has led an exciting life: Born in Hawaii and featured in LIFE magazine with Bing Crosby’s family at the tender age of 36 months as a top swimmer for the Red Cross, Tina has lived in England, Puerto Rico and the West Coast of the United States. The arts have always surrounded her and been a major part of her life. While working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, California, Tina raised three very talented and successful children. She ran her own consulting business and studio, Show Biz Kidz, through which she and her staff along with local Hollywood studio staff helped many children in movies and television lead healthy and successful lives. Bi-coastal since the mid-nineties, Tina wrote and lectured on her book Show Biz Kidz East Coast Guidebook, which supplied answers for southern East Coast families. This series fulfills a passion of mine to delight children and their families with some magic, the spirit of fun and imagination, which I feel really should be preserved in every child at all stages. I truly believe there is no reason the “flame of life” should burn out just because we grow older and have to take on more responsibilities.

Danny the Dragon DVD: In an outstanding show of compassion Tina has produced her entire book on DVD along with the addition of a sign language interpreter for deaf children. As an educator of the deaf, I appreciate her attention to this often overlooked and underserved population. The innovation of adding a sign language interpreter to her DVD was not only brilliant and appreciated, but it stands as strong proof that she truly creates from her heart.

Danny The Dragon DVD

The DVD I enjoyed more. It was a little different then most kid DVD’s. The read the book text straight into the DVD, so one can listen to it. I don’t even own a DVD like that. Well, now I do. My 15 month old of course started to fall asleep through the DVD. It’s not that long and will keep your kids attached to it all the way through. There is also an interpreter that signs the entire way through the DVD which is pretty cool. I’m sure deaf adults and kids love that, since there are not many child friendly DVD’s like this anywhere that I am aware of. The DVD is really cool and you can choose widescreen or standard and that is nice since we have a widescreen. This whole package was nice. There was a book, DVD, the door knob and bookmark. All very colorful and kid friendly of all ages.
