You can fill it up holding 10 pounds of food. When you crank the crank on the side about 1/2 a cup of food will come out for your pets to enjoy. The crank is easy enough for any age passed toddler to do it. Though would recommend teaching them when not to. The whole feeder is pretty sweet and when we get our Portuguese water dog by my birthday I can’t wait for my puppy to grow up with this. This feeder is great quality. We even filled it up to 10 pounds and see if the lab could knock it over, nope its pretty heavy when its full. The eating area is really big so any kind of snout can fit into it! I also like how this pet feeder will hold any size dog food, which is great when your pet grows into it. The lid comes off easy and replaces securely to help keep that food fresh through all 10 pounds, imagine how many cranks that is, sounds better than touching yucky hairy dog food. It also comes with some pads to put on the bottom for people who place this on hardwood flowering or any other slippery floors.
