About them: Our beautiful doll collection, storybooks and accessories are the creation of Maru, Maritza Gutierrez, our founder. She too is an adult collector and wanted to create a beautiful doll that would look so real, that girls of all ages could associate with and be inspired. The idea flourished and she developed Maru and Friends®, a doll line with storybooks that would chronicle the life of a young Hispanic girl that comes to America in search of a better life, her life story.
My daughter Dakota is the only one of my girls who has ever really been into dolls. My other daughter is more of a tom boy and spend most of her time out hunting for snakes and bugs. Because Dakota is so into dolls I am always excited to find one that she loves and adores more than the previous. When we had the opportunity to receive and review a doll from Maru and Friends we were both pretty excited! We received the Maru Latina girl doll and she is just beautiful! She came with the outfit she was wearing, a cute and fashionable jacket, a purse/hand bag, a matching hat, boots and a Forever Friends Book. She also came with a Certificate of Authenticity that shows that she was sculpted by award winning, renowned artist Dianna Effner. The doll itself is extremely well made. She has is adorable and her arms, legs and head move. My daughter just adores her! She wants to pack her everywhere she goes, including school and has to sleep with her every night. She loves how pretty she is and I really love the fact that she resembles a young girl so closely. She is really a beautiful doll and worth every penny. She retails for $125. My daughter loves that she came with a book too. The book is a hardback and has 27 page that include some nice illustrations. It is written by Maritza Gutierrez and illustrated by Rhiannon Cunag. My daughter insists that I read this to her and Maru her doll every night before bed! There are many other dolls from the Maru and Friends line that my daughter is looking forward to collecting. If your child loves dolls as much as mine does then I definitely recommend Maru and Friends!
