About them: Philip Baur, cofounder of Tasty Baking Company, was born to bake. His father owned the Bauer Brothers Bakery in Pittsburgh, and young Philip eagerly learned the basics of snack making – great taste, good value, and most importantly fresh ingredients. When his Dad sold the Pittsburgh bakery, Baur joined forces with Herbert Morris, an egg salesman, They had a fresh idea: individually wrapped snack cakes, baked and delivered fresh daily. On February 25, 1914 with $50,000 they raised from family members they founded Tasty Baking Company.
My kids and I had the pleasure of receiving several Tastykake treats for review. We received an 8 oz box of Karrot Kakes, an 11.5 oz bag of Caramel Apple Mini Donuts, a 10 oz bag of Pumpkin Spice Mini Donuts, and a 14.4 oz box of Apple Cinnamon Sweet Rolls. These are all from the Fall Limited Edition treats. The Apple Cinnamon Sweet Rolls are sweet and savory. There are 6 in the box total and they taste great warmed up or as is. I am not a fan of pumpkin flavored anything but the Pumpkin Spice Mini Donuts were absolutely delicious! They had a light powdering on the outside and a yummy pumpkin and spice flavor on the inside. The Caramel Apple Mini Donuts were also delicious and had a crispy topping which was really a nice treat. Both the Pumpkin Spice and Caramel Apple Mini Donuts were great with coffee and for breakfast! The Karrot Kakes came with 6 individually wrapped packages in the box. Each package had 2 in each pack, so 12 cakes total in the box. These were super yummy. They had Carrot Cake on the inside with creme filling and wrapped in white frosting. These are sweet and great for dessert, in lunches, outings and more. They are only 90 calories per cake so a great sweet treat for even those of us who are trying to watch calories. None of these Tastykake treats lasted long in our house. They were all super delicious and I highly recommend them!
