My girls and I had the pleasure of receiving the Learning Resources Pet Playland Building Set and the Sweet Shop Building Set for review. They each have just over 80 pieces and are geared towards ages 4 and up. They are composed of gears that you place strategically onto the locking bases to make them all turn simultaneously to create and engage in fun play. The Pet Playland Building Set contains a Plane, a Teacup and a Ferris wheel ride that move when the gears are turned with the handle. The little pets that go with this set are interchangeable within these rides for more active play. The Sweet Shop Building Set contains Ice Cream Cones, Lollipops and Cupcakes which turn with each crank of the handle. Both of these sets can be added together to make a larger play set but are both fun as individual sets as well. My girls and I put them both together and loved them both though they really enjoyed the rides in the Pet Playland Building Set and how they moved. They both loved how colorful each set was and could not get enough of them. They put them together by following the easy step by step directions to make them look like the picture on the boxes and also several different ways on their own for hours of fun. It was great watching my daughters both use critical thinking and creativity to make these sets come to life. These sets are a great way to teach cause and effect in little builders! I highly encourage these Learning Resources building sets for kids who like to build and engage in creative play!
