About Them: HI, I’m Purusha, the girl behind My Baby’s Heartbeat Bear. In 2009 during my second year working as a private contractor at an OB/GYN office in Maryland, I discovered the amazing bears that record a baby’s heartbeat – while still inside the mother’s belly! I graduated in 2000 from a community college with an associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Six months later in early 2001, I became a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer specializing in OB/GYN. I had zero experience when I started, but I had a determined spirit and a big heart for the trade.
I had the pleasure of receiving a Hippo My Baby’s Heartbeat Bear for review. It keeps the sound of your baby’s heartbeat safe and sound in a super cute plush Hippo. This one is so incredibly soft and features a grey Hippo plush with pink on its nose and ears. It is made from a super soft fleece and fluffy poly fill material and stands about 11 inches tall. It came with a cute and easy to use heart shaped recorder that is easy to remove from the back of the plush and take it with you to your doctor or midwife appointment. I got this for my sister who is pregnant with my very first nephew Tristin. I had the giraffe one with my son and love it so knew as soon as I found out she was pregnant that I had to get her one. While we listened to my sister’s sons heartbeat, we were able to record approximately 20 seconds of it. After we got my sister home I simply placed the heart shaped recorder into the back of the Hippo My Baby’s Heartbeat Bear. Now my sister just has to give it a gentle tummy squeeze anytime she wants to hear her baby’s heartbeat. My niece was not able to go to the appointment but she gets to hear her brothers heartbeat now whenever she wants. After 5 years of trying to get pregnant I was pretty excited for my sister to have this experience with this Hippo My Baby’s Heartbeat Bear. They make a great baby shower gift and a great keepsake for parents, grandparents and even the baby when they get old enough to appreciate them. I would highly recommend the My Baby’s Heartbeat Bear to any parent to be or other family members. This is the Hippo but they come in a variety of critters that are all cute and offer a keepsake to cherish for years to come!
