About them: Our story begins in 1926 when 26-year-old Max Stern decided to leave Germany for the promise of America. A childhood friend of Stern’s, had borrowed a modest sum and could only pay back the loan with 5,000 singing canaries. Stern accepted the canaries and decided to sell them in New York City. He soon thereafter established his business and went back to his native Germany again and again, returning to America each time with more singing canaries that he now sold to a growing customer base. By 1932, Stern was the largest livestock importer in America and decided to expand into packaged bird foods. Hartz pet products was born.
I do a lot of rescues and raise my own Pembroke Welsh Corgis so we go through a lot of puppy pads. I have never really been particular on the brand of potty pads I use as long as they are absorbent and work good. I was pretty excited to try the Hartz Quilted Plus Dog Pads I received to review. There were 14 pads in the pack and each measured 21 inches by 21 inches. Normally the puppy pads I use work well but none really absorb or mask the smell of urine in them. After a few piddles of pee I normally have to toss them because they get too heavy or start to smell. These were a bit different because they have quilted pockets that lock in the liquids and odor. It actually turns the liquid into an odor absorbing flashdry gel. This helps mask the odor and retains the moisture right into the quilted pockets instead of running or leaking off the puppy pad. My last litter of corgi puppies seemed to really like these and although they didn’t last long with several puppies using them all day, I would definitely buy them again in the future for future litters. I would prefer a larger size and more in a pack but this one is great if you have a single puppy or dog. Next time we will be getting a larger pack! They would be great for that new family puppy or your older pup as they age and get incontinence issues. I love that they neutralize the smell of urine. That is a huge plus for me! These Hartz Quilted Plus Dog Pads are great and I will definitely be getting them again in the future!
