I rescued this dog named Echo that had been abused and was told she was a lab and mastiff mix but had no way of really knowing. My sister fell in love with Echo and ended up taking her with her when she moved out of my house and into her own. This dog is so incredibly small and in no way a mastiff mix and for years we have wanted to know what she really was. When I had the opportunity to review an Embark Dog DNA Test both my sister and I were super excited! The test came pretty quickly and it came with very detailed instructions on how to use it and get the best results. You just activate your kit then make sure your dog has not eaten for 30 minutes prior to doing the swab. Once you hit that 30 minute mark you take the enclosed swab and swab both the lower cheeks until the little sponge is saturated. Next you place it in the bag and use the box it came with to ship your sample off. Once they get your sample and process it you get an update and results sent right to your email address which is super nice! This kit gives you detailed information about your dogs breeds and what percentage of each they are, your dogs ancestry and gives you a better understanding of what possible diseases your dog might be at risk for. It also helps you to understand the breed traits associated with your dog. It is trusted by vets and accepted by hundreds of them and each purchase goes towards canine health research which is awesome! We are still waiting for Echo’s results but my sister and I are very happy with how easy it was to use and look forward to knowing what breeds make Echo her unique self! If you have a rescue or a dog in general that you want to know what he or she is, this is a great test for that and I definitely recommend it!
