Edible Playdough

#Homemade #Playdough and #edible to #Recipe and #DIY, #CraftLove play dough, but hate spending so much money on play dough they will just mix together, and getting mad. Or even having to worry about putting it away before it dries out. I know I am, and this homemade play dough makes it so much easier, and you make way more than what you would pay for. This is a very easy and only takes about thirty minutes to do, with or without the kids.Below I will show you how easy this is to make, and you only need to buy one extra thing that doesn’t normally hang around the house often, rest you already have in your home.

Simple ingredients

The sprinkles was just an experiment, they are not required, more so just added more multi color looking to the final dough batch. You need cream of tartar seasoning, food coloring, salt or sugar, olive oil, flour, paper bowls, and gloves.. This batch will make 6 to 8 paper bowls of dough once its all mixed up.

Bowls of dough

Once you add all the flour, salt or sugar, oil, and cream of tartar to the bowl mix it up, you may need to add more flour if it looks liquid or sticky. Mix it in, until it looks like dough that doesn’t stick to your fingers or the mixer. I had to sprinkle it in so many times, and on the counter when kneading the dough. Then split up pieces of dough to place into each bowl.

Food Coloring time

Once you placed the none sticky dough into your 6-8 paper bowls (paper bowls we used so we can just toss them out) grab your food coloring and have fun, adding and making fun colors. We did about 4-6 drops per color. We made one with sprinkles because my 5 year old wanted to see if it works. Once all your colors are added into the bowls, put your gloves on, and start kneading the colors into the dough.

Colors setting in

Once all the colors (sprinkles) were set into the dough, I placed them into new paper bowls, to remove them from any food coloring that went to the bottom. I let them sit for about ten minutes so the colors can set it, and get dry. Then I took each batch and floured the counter per bowl, and kneaded in the colors so they were a solid colors, rather than how they look above. This part was actually fun, keep kneading, and sprinkle in flour until the dough isn’t sticky anymore, and then place them into sandwich bags for later play. All in all was a fun experience with the kiddo, and he had fun using his cookie cutters on the dough making all sorts of things.

The End

In the end you should see this kind of result, and let your kids have the time of their life playing with it, and it is safe to eat if your kids decide to take a bite of their food creation. The salt version didn’t taste as good as the sugar one did. But its all up to you. As you can see the bottom left one is the one we used with the sprinkles and added mix of colors to the dough.
