About Americano: Cuco is a Mexican boy parrot that would rather imitate the crazy stunts of his TV parrot superhero, El Americano, than help with his chores at the family bird circus. Yet when a gang of bully birds threatens his ringmaster father and takes over the circus, Cuco sets off on a hilarious and perilous journey to Hollywood to enlist his hero in his fight, only to discover the true hero within himself.
My kids and I received a DVD copy of Americano for review. It is G rated and has a feature run time of 88 minutes. It is about a boy parrot named Cuco that wants to change his parent’s circus act to liven things up and bring the customers back to the show. When his father is threatened by a group of bully birds who want his cape and to take over the circus, Cuco decides to set off on a hilarious journey to Hollywood to get his friends to fight with him. My kids loved this movie. They laughed and laughed and have already watched it a few times. I personally, didn’t care for it, but not because it wasn’t a good movie. It just seemed like a movie that definitely tailors to a young audience and not my cup of tea. All three of my kids adored it though and I would recommend it for a family with young kids. It is a bright, colorful animated film and has a fun story. It is featured in both English and Spanish which I liked but I do wish it had subtitles since I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I could understand everything that was going on. You can preorder your copy today or wait until June 13th when it comes out on DVD!
