2012 Chevrolet: Traverse

2012-Chevrolet-Traverse-Exterior-Color-Option-Silver-Ice-MetallicAbout Car:The 2012 Chevrolet Traverse is powered by a V6 engine that most test drivers said produces ample power. Power is routed through a six speed automatic transmission, and most reviewers said that it shifts smoothly, though some found it occasionally hesitant to downshift at highway speeds. The Traverse achieves an EPA fuel economy estimate of 17/24 mpg city/highway, which is comparable to the fuel economy estimates of most others in the class. Chevrolet Cars offers great american cars. They have a huge collections from sedans to sports cars. Chevy’s are great cars, I see them all over the roads. Very sleek, comfortable, nicely made, kid friendly cars.

Before we left dealership
Before we left dealership

We were in the market for a new car since my Jeep Liberty Sport 4×4 was meeting its end of life, we needed to get a car that could fit more than 5 people in it, since we have two kids, husband and I, grandpa and the 2 uncles. We travel a lot to see family and this car has the ability to hold 8 people, with 2 bucket seat rows in the middle and back. The bonus the very back row flattens down, to blend in with the trunk. Mind the trunk is pretty small when all the seats are positioned, but if the last row is down, you have a huge trunk!

The trunk also has a hidden spot near the door, which is pretty big, holds our diaper bag, first aid kit, rope, mostly items we need daily or in case of emergency. The trunk also has a phone charger in it, cup holders, latches for rope to hang, you can also use it for a bed with the seats down, when having a tail gate party or at the drive in. Holds a good amount of groceries, stroller, boxes, with room left still.

The dashboard is pretty much set up easily. Temperature, gears, odometer, and gas in the middle, with the RPM’s, MPH’s and notifications on the sides. The radio came with XM radio which we just ended 1.5 years later. CD player, cup holders, 2 compartments between the seats, shifter with auto shifter as well. Also has a top compartment on the dashboard, I love that one, but it does hit the sun a lot, so anything will melt on hot days, but has a rubber like material so you can rub it clean.

There is one pocket next to the shifter that holds my business cards, and appointment reminders, totally perfect. Also car charger spot next to it, and a phone holder below it. This car has tons of compartments. Also you have control of the windows, and heater/AC for the backseat.

First Row Back seats
First Row Back seats

This is the first row of the two in the back of the car. This row is actually more comfortable as it has way more leg room, then the back row has, you’re very cramped back there, so if your claustrophobic be sure to sit in the first row. The one main thing I liked about this Chevy over the others, the hook ups for the car seats are visible and easy to latch on unlike my husband impala that are hidden into the seat, and hard to place in without breaking a finger. These are visible and done fast. There is no latch hook up for the middle seat, unless you’re using booster seats, and the very back row, has no car seat hook ups at all, just for booster seats as well. So if you have babies or in convertible car seats you only get 2 spots for them, while the rest are for older toddlers and kids. Where the green booster seat is sitting, the seat goes down flat so you can let the people climb in to sit in the back seats. Also both bucket seat rows, can move forward or back for more leg room.

First wash on the car

This Chevy Traverse is a great 8 seating car, lots of leg room, bars on the sides of the car for short people who need help getting inside and out the car. Handle bars for gripping when getting in and out as well. Airbags on dashboard, sides of the car in front and back seats. Also has traction control for snow days, or bad weather, which I leave on all the time. This car only has one spot and it sits where the seat belt sits on the side by the door, otherwise its pretty open and visible.  Trunk does not auto open, miss that on my other car. But the whole door opens up. Since this is the LT version, it doesn’t come with those notifications when your tires are low, compass, and others. I only get the oil, gas notifications on the digital screen. This car is like 4 tons, and has great pick up speed when you hit the sweet spot, but does a horrible job at flooring.

My car
My car

All in all great car we got for a trade in, from my jeep, and got this car knocked off 5K. Drove it home the same day. We got it in 2013 but is a 2012. This was my birthday present last year from my parents. Everyone loves the car, fits everyone perfectly, lots of adjustment options in it, holds car seats good. Radio is great and the speakers have great bass on rap songs. Lots and lots of compartments throughout the car, heater and AC adjust in the back seat first row, cup holders throughout the car, chargers spots throughout the car. This car has only had a few recalls, very simple minor ones, that was repaired free, also still under warranty tell 30,000 miles and I am at 25,000 miles in 1.5 years, and it already had 700 miles on it, when we bought it. The car is very, very long, and if you’re so used to half the size of a car or sedan, it will take you a while to learn your fenders, parking it, getting over on enough room.
